On 14 February 2016, the Directorate General of Customs (DGC), Royal Oman Police initiated the Single Window component of the Bayan automated Customs clearance systems. This is a phased roll-out during which onsite support for the progressive uptake of licences and permits at Ministries is provided.
This phase of the Bayan roll-out involves provision of Government permits and licencing services for:
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries,
- The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs,
- The Ministry of Health,
- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and
- The Public Authority for Mining.
Other services provided include exemption management for the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, the Military and Social Development. 18 Government bodies (Ministries and Directorates) are included in this initial roll-out of Single Window functions.
Single Window roll-out for the Bayan systems will be completed by the end of September 2016, at which point 28 government bodies and 92 services will be supported through the Single Window.
Early indicators show that adoption of the Bayan systems by government and industry is improving clearance and release times at Oman’s borders.
