A WCO Middle Management Development (MMD) train-the-trainer workshop was held from 9 to 20 January 2023 at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, for the beneficiaries of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) funded by the Swiss Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO). Fifteen middle managers from the Customs Administrations of Bangladesh, Jordan, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia and Ukraine attended the workshop.

The objective of this workshop was to train prospective trainers capable of supporting the implementation of the MMD training programme at national and regional levels. During the workshop, the participants delivered training material, exchanged information, and shared their experience as middle managers.

The MMD is the third core element of the WCO LMD Programme. It supports middle managers of Customs administrations to expand their knowledge and understanding of modern management by developing in them the appropriate behaviour and attitude of a modern manager and equipping them with a set of fundamental skills necessary to manage themselves, their teams, stakeholders and the organizational strategy and culture on a daily basis.

The workshop concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants, who greatly appreciated the information and insights from the facilitators and each other.
