WCO National Workshop on Rules of Origin in Kazakhstan

A WCO National Workshop on Rules of Origin was held from 7 to 9 December 2015 in Astana, Kazakhstan. This Workshop, supported by the Korea Customs Co-operation Fund (CCF/Korea) welcomed 47 participants.

The objective of the workshop was to deepen the knowledge and enhance the capacity on the implementation of Rules of Origin in the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan. The participants learned about the origin methodology, as well as about the practical application of the Rules of Origin.

The workshop introduced the importance of Rules of Origin and focused on technical details regarding the specific agreements relevant to Kazakhstan (such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Agreement and Eurasian Economic Union) as well as the recent trend of the origin certification system. The Workshop also dealt with the features of both Non-preferential and Preferential Rules of Origin. During the workshop, participants were eager to deepen their knowledge on the practical application of Rules of Origin and actively participated in practical exercises.

The workshop concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants who greatly appreciated the information and insights received from the facilitators and from each other.
