At the closing session of the first part of the Joint 81st – 84th Fellowship Programme the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, looked back on the ten years of existence of the WCO Spanish-language Fellowship programme and its major achievements and successes. He urged the Fellows to continue sharing the good practices of the future implementation of their research’s recommendations, which they have developed with their WCO tutors and maintain this important network of customs professionals.
The Secretary General acknowledged the crucial role of the Fellows in modernizing their administrations and congratulated the 12 Fellows, representing "the future of Customs", for their work and encouraged them to drive change in their respective administrations.
The participants of this programme will meet at a later date to continue their learning, including the leadership workshop and the field study trip, which will be delivered in a face-to-face setting.
