07 marzo 2024

The World Customs Organization (WCO), with support from the Customs Cooperation Fund – China (CCF-China), led a mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 19 to 23 February 2024. The mission aimed to assist the DRC in launching its Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programme under the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards, focusing on bolstering Customs capacities.

Led by WCO AEO experts from Morocco Customs and China Customs, the mission included comprehensive training sessions, presentations, a field visit, and simulation exercises. During the opening address, the Director General of the DRC reiterated the administration's commitment to launching the AEO programme promptly, urging stakeholders to prioritize the workshop's outcomes.

The workshop addressed critical areas such as the WCO AEO Implementation and Validation Guide, Customs-Business Partnership, performance measurement, risk management, and post-clearance audit. Participants also gained valuable insights from AEO experts sharing country-specific experiences.

The WCO remains dedicated to enhancing the DRC's capabilities, facilitating smoother international trade, and fostering economic growth through the implementation of the AEO programme.
