Gambia Designs a Strategic Dashboard as a Key Tool for Performance Measurement

06 June 2018

Under the auspices of the WCO-WACAM Project financed by Sweden, a technical assistance session was held from 28 May to 01 June 2018 at the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) Headquarters in Banjul to work on the design of a Strategic Dashboard for GRA.

Under the guidance of the WCO experts and the Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB), the four-day intensive working session served to identify the target audience, the dashboard type, and key indicators as basis for the design of the tool.   As a result, the Strategic Dashboard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were identified and grouped thematically (revenue collection, trade facilitation and compliance management, enforcement, reform and modernization, HRM and practices). The data source for each KPI has been identified as well.

In the forthcoming weeks, and as a follow-up to the working session, GRA will develop monitoring mechanisms to measure indicators where electronic systems are missing, as well as analytical and operational dashboards which will feed into the Strategic Dashboard.

The establishment of a Strategic Dashboard by the GRA should provide the executive team with a high-level overview of the GRA performance.  Commissioner General Mr. Yankuba Darboe informed the group that “the Strategic Dashboard will help GRA top management in effectively steering the organization to maximize on opportunities and addressing operational and organizational challenges.”
